Cancer of the uterus is in may ways preventable. As we get older, risk will climb for all women, but there are conditions that can make you at risk at a younger age. If you have one of these risk factors, see your gynecologist early to help plan your prevention strategies:
- PCOS
- High Fat Diet, particularly if you are obese
- Inactivity
- Long estrogen exposure: early start to menstrual periods and later menopause
- Diabetes, insulin resistance, high sugar diet
- Estrogen supplements without a progesterone
- Tamoxifen
- History of endometrial lining tissue abnormalities such as hypereplasia
- History of breast or ovarian cancer
